Case Study 3: Waterproofing Deck System
The existing urethane membrane on this hospital parking deck had failed and was allowing water to leak in to the office spaces below. We started the repairs by removing the old membrane using UHP water blasting, diamond tooling and a Skid Steer mounted scraper blade. Once all the old coating had been removed (approximately 70,000 square feet) the transition joints at the curbing as well as the expansion joints were routed with a diamond blade and sealed using two-component urethane joint fillers. Curbing was re-tooled using non-sag caulking materials. A new urethane membrane was applied in a three-coat system. The parking deck remained open throughout the process. The urethane membrane is a product of The Sonneborne Company.
