Case Study 9: Decorative Concrete Stain
The client desired an aquatic feeling for their entrance and hallways. We started with a substrate of new concrete. Prior to the framework being installed, we scored the concrete with saw cuts set on the diagonal to produce a marble/stone effect. We then applied an acid stain in a blue/copper patina. In order to intensify the blue color we added a tinted translucent urethane followed by a final clear coat of the same urethane, with very effective results. The products used were Kemiko stain with a Devoe urethane finish.
